Description

Meeting of pilgrims in Piazza San Giorgio for Francigena stamping. Beginning of the tour of Sarzana, a small town in the heart of the Val di Magra, which has always been a religious, commercial and judicial center of great importance since ancient times.
Some of its main tourist attractions will be visited such as: Piazza San Giorgio, Piazza del Comune, Via Mazzini with Casa Buonaparte, the Church of San Andrea and the Cathedral of Santa Maria, the Torrione di Porta Romana and the Firmatede Fortress. Afterwards, discovery of typical antique workshops in Via Fiasella. At the end, tasting and explanation of Spongata, a typical cake made of short pastry, dried fruit and honey prepared for the holidays, or Farinata, a savory Ligurian cake with ancient origins and made with the use of chickpea flour, extra virgin olive oil, water and salt.
